This is what the host, Mark Anthony, has to say about his site:

"We all know the world of organized travel is changing dramatically. Every day there seems to be a new way to communicate, to learn and to experience the world through travel. Not always using us as the guide.

As a tour professional (Tour Director/Tour Guide/Docents), we are bombarded daily with conflicting messages about our chosen career. Some think our industry is dieing off due to technology and changes in society. Others think it is improving because of technology and changes in society. Some tour operators see what we do as something of an expense. Other tour operators see us as an asset. Some think anyone can be a tour professional!!

It's In Your Hands

Since most of us work as independent contractors, it's in our hands to sink or swim. The job of a tour professional is a demanding and ever crowded field. In order to succeed in doing what we love, we need to be the best we can. Keeping sharp, keeping up to date is the key to keeping employed.

But How??

What can we do to be a better business professional? Become better educated? Become more informed about the places we go? How do we get more business and make more money? All are very good questions we intend to answer here at TourGuideNotebook(dot)com.

Look online and you will find many resources to help. But are they dedicated to our market? Are they experienced in this business? Many of the supposed good ones are major corporations, or questionable business people jumping into a new market. Always wanting something from you before the give you anything worthy of your attention.

You need to find a reliable, experienced source. Actually, several sources. One of those should be TourGuideNotebook(dot)com, a website portal managed by someone who has been there, done that and has the 1099's to prove it.

Open Forum

Currently all the articles and information is provided by me. Based mostly on my experience in small business management and marketing, limousine owner and international tour professional. In time that will change as more professionals start to give us their input, their experience in the business of being a tour professional.

This is an open forum. No fees, no membership charges. It's all about our business. Information we need to know to run a better tour, grow a better business and be better informed. To learn more about the people and the places we go. Sharing information that can help other tour professionals do their jobs better.

If you work as a tour professional (tour director/tour guide/docent) you are welcomed to join the conversation. Submit your own articles from your experience. Comment on others articles and information and to give us the heads up on the places you go."
